MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL: Dear Green Acres Students and Families, There’s a famous expression that says, “Work hard, get smart. Work harder, get even smarter!” I am very impressed by our smart and hardworking students. When I visit your classrooms, I see how serious you are about learning. This makes your parents and your teachers very proud! This year, Accelerated Reader created momentum for students to read more and more. How many of you met your individual goals, won an AR raffle, or received an award? I bet a lot of you did. The exciting part is that the more you read, the better you read. That helps you become a successful student. DreamBox Math is a dynamic addition to our computer instruction. This fabulous math program has won awards around the nation. Many students were extra motivated because they could do it on computers at home as well as at school. Our school is looking great. The new solar panels are wonderful! They gather the sun’s energy, and also provide shade at our lunch area. The new Jungle Mural on Unit Four by the quad, painted with the 5th graders, adds more beauty to our school. That’s probably one reason people like to come here! Fifth graders: Please bring honor to Green Acres by being super students at Shoreline. We invite you to come back and visit us. Brandon Mosbacher has had Perfect Attendance throughout his 6 years here at Green Acres. He hasn't missed a single day or been late once since Kindergarten. Way to go Brandon! Every Day Counts! This year, Green Acres 3-5th graders took part in a photography project through the Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History. Partnered with Amesti Elementary in Watsonville, students documented their school sites, turned the photos into Postcards and exchanged correspondence between the two school communities. Their work can be seen both at the Museum downtown and on displayed on the exterior of the MUR.
